—Your first center with Eien Pressure!!
"It didn’t feel real even when we were recording and shooting the video. We first performed it in front of an audience at Kayoukyoku!, and I think it started to sink in from there."

"Yeah. I surprised myself too, like ‘whoops, I won’ (laughs)"
—Tell us about the new song.
"I think AKB has had more positive songs til now, but this song’s lyrics take a step back from that, and I feel like it expresses my feelings."
—Akimoto-sensei must’ve written them especially for you.
"Yes, so I’d like for girls who might not have a lot self-confidence to listen to it too. And the video was shot so well that it looks cuter than the real thing, so I definitely want everyone to see it."
—Is there a special choreography?
"At the end, there’s this pose (lightly rapping her fists on her head) that I do, but at first, the choreography was both hands out like bang!! But Shinoda-san said, ‘It wouldn’t be ponkotsu with that,’ and came up with this for me. It’s more like me now and I think that made it special."

—The movie “Joker Game” was really interesting!
"Thank you! This was my first starring role and at first, I was panicking, like ‘Are you sure about me?’ (laughs). But during the filming, I tried not to focus on that and instead thought about giving it my all. I made my life revolve around this movie from the initial meeting to the wrap up."
—Does that mean your character Akazawa Chinatsu was a part of you in everyday life?
"This is pretty true for other works too, but I’m always thinking about ‘What would Chinatsu do in this kind of situation?’ I think that helped me get into character. And she isn’t great at making her own decisions, so I brought out the indecisive part of me and used that in acting."
—Speaking of getting into character… your bangs also!
"I ended up cutting them. But I was already satisfied with the middle part, so it didn’t bother me at all (laughs). I actually think having bangs made me look more like a student. There were some wig bangs for me at first, but I just got them cut instead of using those."
—How did you feel about the story? Classmates are playing a game of old maid with their life on the line, right?
"Yes. I like thrilling books and movies to begin with, so I’m really happy to be a part of something like this where the characters are being pushed to their limits. And this is true for the acting, but the location of the shoot also, which was at an abandoned school without air conditioning in the middle of summer, so the classroom was like a sauna! We were being pushed to our limits in that sense too (laughs)"
—Ahahahaha. Filming seemed to be pretty tight as it took only one week, but did you get to hang out with your costars?
"The BBQ we had at night between filming was the most fun. We grilled some meat and yakisoba, and the foil-wrapped salmon was delicious too! It was a while since I experienced such a legit BBQ and we got to bond, so it was a lot of fun."
—Lastly, tell us about the reality show “Terrace House.”
"It makes me happy that a lot of the members watch it. But they’re all concerned about the people other than me, and I get a bunch of texts like ‘what’s going to happen to so-and-so?’ Of course I respond ‘stay tuned for next week’ (laughs)"
